HSDC
Host has worked closely with HSDC alongside PMC to deliver numerous Further Education projects across various scales and curricula.
The Beacon Science Building is located centrally on the HSDC’s Alton Campus.
The building is arranged over two floors with the entrance at Ground Floor and stairs leading down to a Lower Ground Floor.
This Lower Ground Floor that was identified for refurbishment and reconfiguration for the Space Technologies Programme to include maths and physics labs as well as an exhibit space.
The three refurbished classrooms; are accessed via the repurposed showcase space at the base of the stairs.
All ceilings are to be stripped out and the existing steelwork and deck to be painted as the new ceiling finish. Suspended lights and acoustic baffles throughout the space will replace the grid ceilings.
A largely monochromatic palette is complemented by bold punches of colour. The paint to the steelwork is different in each space and the furniture has been selected to complement this.
Also located at the college’s Alton Campus, the Learning Resource Centre (LRC) and Stevens Building required significant refurbishment across the Ground Floor.
In the LRC, teaching spaces were upgraded alongside communal and staff spaces.
The Stevens Building required more specialist spaces, including Photography and Film Studios.
Elsewhere on the college’s campuses, host has been responsible for developing designs for various T-Level curricula, including Professional Cookery, Animal Care and Early Years Care.
